Local Companies and the University of Leicester set to sponsor Leicester Giving Day

 

Embark CSR has attracted support from three local organisations who have stepped up the plate to sponsor the inaugural Leicester Giving Day. 

 

AKN Build Ltd, the University of Leicester and SSR Builders Ltd all share a passion for helping their local community to thrive and prosper. 

 

Leicester Giving Day takes place on Friday 18th November, but the programme it is initiating will be year round, and founders, Embark CSR, hope to turn the aims for the day into a yearlong programme of support and development for Leicester and Leicestershire’s local communities. 

 

“Off the back of the first ever Leicester Giving Day, we aim to reach out to more companies and to encourage them to partner with local charities and community organisations” says Chris Shaw, Embark CSR Director. 

 

“Our plan is to run a ‘how to’ programme aimed at company directors in 2023” he said. 

 

“Our experience in setting up Leicester Giving Day has demonstrated there are lots of company Directors who want to give back to their local communities” Shaw continued, “but they need a helping hand to connect with the right charity or local group to help them turn their passion into a purposeful partnership” he concluded. 

 

Stacey Wragg, Director Embark CSR, said "The Leicester Giving Day is a unique concept that has come at the right time for our community. The Leicester Giving Day provides a platform to not only showcase the good work you do, but to engage the public."  

 

In the meantime, Leicester Giving Day has received fabulous support from AKN Build Ltd, the University of Leicester and SSR Builders Ltd.

“We are delighted to sponsor the first Leicester Giving Day. 

 

“As an organisation that was born out of philanthropy - the site for the University was donated by local businessman, Thomas Fielding Johnson in 1921 – we understand only too well the impact philanthropic support can have on local communities. 

 

“We hope this day shines a light on all the amazing work going on across our City and also encourages more organisations to get involved with the many groups in the city and county that provide vital services to help people in need.”

Stephen Squire of SSR Builders Ltd said “Leicester Giving Day is such a great idea. We are really pleased to support the day, and the longer term aims that sit behind the Community Impact Programme. SSR believe that construction companies have a duty to give back to their communities and that fits in perfectly with what Leicester Giving Day is trying to achieve.”
